Run a backup set
There are four ways in which to start a
backup:
1. From within NH Backup:
Simply right click on the backup set and select 'Start' from the context
menu.
2. Backup scheduling: Scheduling
can be used when you want to run a backup when you're not at the computer
or you don't want to risk forgetting to run a backup. How
to set up scheduling.
3. AutoRun: Using the
AutoRun feature you can have NH
Backup run backups automatically when drives connect to the computer
(flash drives, external hard drives etc.). How
to set up AutoRun.
4. Command line: This can be very
useful and is very easy to set up. In order to run a backup set you
don't have to start NH Backup from the Start Menu and then select inside
the NH Backup program what backup set to run. Sometimes the easiest
way to run a backup is through a shortcut, placed on the Desktop or
anywhere else. To do this:
a) Start NH Backup from the Start Menu.
b) Right click on the backup set you
want to make a shortcut to.
c) Select 'Copy command line (to clipboard)'
from the context menu. Or press CTRL+M.
d) Go to the Desktop, right click to
create a new shortcut.
e) A wizard pops up, and in the first
step of that wizard paste the NH Backup command line into the text
box (by right clicking in the field, or pressing CTRL+V).
f) Press Next and then enter a name for
the shortcut.
g) The wizard is complete and you have
a shortcut on your Desktop that you can use to execute the backup
set at any time.
