Add folder to backup set
Right click on the backup set you want
to configure and select Properties, or choose 'New...' from the file
menu, to display the properties
dialog. Click the 'Add folder...' button and a new window will pop
up.
Source tab

First, specify which folder you want
to back up.
Rules
Second, you can specify which files and subfolders to include in the
backup. By default all files and subfolders are included. But, if
you, for example, want to exclude all temporary files, fill in the
controls like this:
a) Select 'Include all files' and 'Include
all folders' by default, from the drop down box
b) Select the 'Exclude files' option box
c) Select 'with names matching pattern' from the dropdown box
d) Type in '*.tmp' into the text box (not including the quote marks)
e) Press the 'Add rule' button and name the new rule
You can add as many rules as you like,
and make them apply to both files and folders.
Destination tab
Destination folder is the folder
where you wish to store the backup. A network share or a formatted
CD is recommended, but a local hard disk is an alternative.
If you check the Compress backup checkbox NH Backup will send
all files and subfolders to a zip archive. You select what archive
in the Archive file name text box.
The multi volume archive function is still in experimental
phase. You can have NH Backup split the backup archive in volumes.
Compression level: 9 is strongest compression, 6 is default
and 1 is no compression (store).
Password protection. It is important
to take into account that the protection provided by this zip encryption
is minimal. Neither the zip file nor the backup set file handles the
password in sufficiently secure ways to ensure protection.
Options tab
In the Option tab, the checkbox Perform
recursive backup is used to decide if subfolders to the selected
source folder should be backed up or not.
By checking Delete from the destination..check
box NH Backup can make the backup an exact mirror of the source folder.
If unchecked all files that has ever been backed up to the folder
will not be deleted. Therefore the destination folder might get bigger
than the source folder. Files and folders will be permanently deleted.
Delete source folder is not recommended. If the backup set
is scheduled it will on the second run delete also the destination
folder if the Delete from the destination setting is turned on. The
files will be permanently deleted.
Every backup item (file or folder) can be assigned a comment.
Optional.
