Configuration
NH Backup supports custom double click
action. Separate process means that the running instance of NH
Backup will keep running when a backup process is started, and you
will get two NH Backup windows running at the same time. One with
the backup set manager and one with the started backup process.
With the check for available space on destination folders option
turned on NH Backup will warn for low disk space if there is not room
on the destination drive to hold all the content of the source folder
- which is not the same as to say that there will actually be a space
error when the backup is run, because only files that have been updated
will be copied to the destination. This option is still under development.
Create backup source root folder in destination path: If the
source folder is 'c:\myfiles\documents' and destination folder is
'd:\storage' then 'd:\storage\documents' will be auto-created and
the files copied there. If unchecked, the files will be copied directly
into 'd:\storage'.
NH Backup Agent
The NH
Backup Agent is a small program that runs in the system tray watching
for new drives to connect to the computer. When new drives connect
any backup set configured to be triggered by the connected drive will
be started. In order for the AutoRun
feature to work, the Agent has to be running.
Web logs
The web log feature of NHB gives you
the option of having the backup logs stored online on our home page.
Whenever a backup is run its log is posted online so that the administrator
can view the backup results anywhere, anytime.
The text boxes 'Name', 'Email' and 'Computer
Description' can be edited freely. But the 'User ID' can not be chosen
freely, it has to be generated by NH Backup either by the copy running
on this computer or on another one. If you are running NH Backup on
several computers you can post all your logs on the same web page
by entering the user id from another copy of NH Backup, exactly as
it is displayed on that computer. Otherwise you should leave it as
it is. (Press the Restore button to use the original user id.)
Reclaim file association
In Windows all file extensions (like
txt, exe, com, or doc) is associated with a program. If you double
click a doc file in the Windows Explorer then Word will start, so
then we know that Word is associated with doc files. NH Backup is
normally associated with NH Backup files (that is the backup sets).
However, other program can associate themselves with the NH Backup
extension (steal the association). Use the 'Reclaim file association'
command if you want NH Backup to steal back the extension.
